A country in constant change - Romania has awoken from its Sleeping Beauty's sleep! The wooded landscapes of the Carpathians, the Moldavia monasteries with their multicoloured outside frescoes, ancient customs and the legend of the vampire Dracula and not least the attraction of this journey. Rural activities are still a principal support of the Rumanian life. So the traditional village architecture, the professions and the cookery, form an independent life-spraying culture. Result: Romania calls alternation, hospitality, adventure and nature purely.

1. Day: journey Cluj Napoca
On to Cluj Napoca
On the Hungarian Rumanian border we will meet our English-speaking guide which will accompany us on the tour in Romania. Drive past Oradea, with the orthodox cathedral with frescoes and astronomical clock, the trip leads to Cluj Napoca. The most important economic centre of Transylvania was built in the 13th century by the Saxons and possesses an old culture tradition. Noticeably is the St. Michaels catherdal which was strted to be built in 1350 and the constuction lasted almost 200 years.

2. Day: Cluj Napoca - Tihuta
Hotel of castle Dracula
The current trip leads via Dej to north Transylvania to the medieval city of Bistrita which is known by its characteristic military towers. The Gothic church from the 16th century is towered above by a 80 m high church tower. The gold-smith's house with the facade also is worth visited, being built in the renaissance style and having a refined chiseled hall. The aim of the current day is the castle Dracula near the Tihuta pass.

3. Day: Tihuta - Campulung Moldovenesc
The treasures of the Bucovina
In the north-eastern part of the country the nature has created picturesque landscapes in which the Moldavia monasteries are situated, the monaseries which are known all over the world. These churches with multicoloured outside frescoes are astonishing albums under the free sky. The frescoes have retained since centuries wind and weather and until our time the secrets of the master painters by whom they were created. We will visit the churches Voronet, also called the "Capella Sixtina" of the east, Humor with the portrait of Virgin Maria with Jesus child, and the convent Moldovita. Overnight in Campulung Moldovenesc.

4. Day: Campulung Moldovenesc - Baia Mare
Creativity in wood
Today the journey leads over the Prislop-pass in the Maramures-country, also known as the "land of the wood". Famous are the wood churches from Maramures. The highest of these churches we will find in Surdesti. Today for lunch we are invited on a farm. Afterwards we drive to the "cheerful cemetery" in Sapanta with humorous grave writings and after that we will reach Baia Mare.

5. Day: Baia Mare - journey home
