The Danube delta is one, in Europe unique landscape which distinguishes itself by the indescribable wealth of animal species and botanical species which can be found here. Therefore the Danube delta is considered to be one of the biggest bird paradieses of the earth. The Danube main canals are connected with channels and tributaries together. In between numerous lakes, as well as the lagoon landscape situated in the south. Experience this unrestrained nature which has developed with reed, wild apple trees and pear trees, meadows and creepers like a jungle.
1. Day: journey Cluj Napoca
The first impressions
Drive to Cluj Napoca, a pulsating university town. Check in and dinner in the booked hotel.
2. Day: Cluj Napoca - Brasov
Transylvania in full splendour
After the breakfast city tour in Cluj. Afterwards visit to the fortified chrch of Medias built in the 13-th century with its wall ring and the Margarethian church. After the visit, drive to Biertan. The picturesque village lies in the valley of the wine-growing area of Tirnava Mare. Here can be seen on a steep hill, one of the most beautiful fortified churches of Transylvania. Afterwards drive to Sighisoara, one of the most beautiful the medieval towns of Romania. During a walk trough the tight alleys of the old city, we can learn more about the town and enjoy a delightful view from the clock tower. Dinner and overnight in Brasov.
3. Day: Brasov - Tulcea
Churches and castles
Breakfast in the hotel and afterwards city tour in Brasov. We will visit the Black church, the symbol of Brasov, as well as the fortress of Tartlau. Afterwards drive trough the delightful Prahova valley to Sinaia. Here we will have the possibility to visit the Peles castle and then drive to Tulcea, the main city of the Danube delta.
4. Day: Danube delta
Fishermen villages and bird paradieses
Today we will spend the whole day in the unique landscape of the Danube delta. During a boat trip we will go past fishermen villages and gaze in wonder at the multicoloured bird's variety of the delta. We have lunch on board. Let this impressive landscape work on ourselves. Dinner and overnight in Tulcea.
5. Day: Tulcea - Piatra Neamt
Idyllic mountain landscape
After the breakfast we leave the Danube delta and we drive to Piatra Neamt. The city lies idyllic surrounded by the mountains Pietricica, Cernegura and the spurs of the east Carpathians. Dinner and overnight in Piatra Neamt.
6. Day: Piatra Neamt - Gura Humorului
With nuns and monks
Today we will visit a part of the Moldavian monasteries. Many of the monasteries are still inhabited by friendly monks and nuns and lie partly hidden in the forests. We begin our visit with the monk's monastery built in the 14th century Neamt and then we visit the monastery Humor which is painted in a dark red. The monastery adapts itself harmoniously in the landscape. The church was painted under the roof and has the oldest paintings from all monastic churches with outside frescoes. Afterwards we will visit the probably most beautiful monastery, completely painted in blue,the monastery from Voronet. A style unique for this area was created by the connection of Byzantine art with Rumanian folk art. Dinner and overnight in Gura Humorului.
7. Day: Gura Humorului - Baia Mare
Wood carving in the Carpathians
Breakfast in the hotel. Afterwards drive trough the Carpathian mountains into the Maramures area. The area is particularly known for its wood carvings and wood churches. Dinner and overnight in Baia Mare.
8. Day: journey home
Goodbye, Romania
Today we say goodbye to the Romanian guide. With a lot of beautiful impressions we begin the jurney home.
